What are renal disorders?
Renal disorders are the conditions
related to the kidneys. When the kidneys become impaired, they may allow the
toxin to stay in the blood giving rise to a set of complications.
We have two kidneys, each about the
size of the fist. Located at the lower back, inside each kidney are the
millions of tiny structures that function as their filters. They are the blood
vessels known to be nephrons and glomeruli. Each filter works with tubule in
letting the minerals like protein to stay in the blood while removing the
waste. The waste then becomes the urine that flows through the tubes called
ureters and to the bladder where it is stored until you pass it through
urination.
If you cannot preserve the kidney
function in the initial stages, the kidneys fail, prompting end-stage renal
disease.
What causes renal disorders?
Kidney diseases mostly develop due to high blood sugar and
blood pressure levels, and hardening of the blood vessels of the kidneys.
Sometimes, kidney disease also causes these conditions.
While anatomic conditions can also affect the functioning of
the renal resulting from the metabolic conditions, however, the occurrence of
such conditions is very rarely linked to ESRD since they need to be inherited
from both the parents.
Sometimes, renal disorders also happen because of the damage
to the filters of the kidneys. The disease arising because of damage glomeruli
and nephrons can also result in permanent damage to renal.
The other conditions that can cause renal disorders are the
blockage in the urinary system. The system that drains the kidneys help
eliminates the substances that are harmful to the kidneys or their
tissues.
Other causes of renal disorders include:
·
Diet: A diet plays a vital role in making the
kidneys healthy and preventing them from any burden. A balanced diet is an
amalgamation of fats, carbs, proteins, and calories in a proper amount or
ratio. But, if you are not consuming a healthy portion of such nutrients, then
the kidneys may get affected severely.
·
Dehydration: Water promotes the natural
detoxification of the blood. If you do not drink enough water, you may not
urinate frequently, which allows the toxins to stay therein. Hence, it is
necessary for you to drink at least eight glasses of water on a daily basis.
·
Smoking: Nicotine is harmful to the body,
particularly to your kidneys, lungs, and heart.
·
Alcohol: Our changing habits have prompted us to
rely more on alcohol, which is again unhealthy for the kidneys.
·
Medicines and drugs: Certain drugs and
medications can intoxicate your kidneys. The kidneys have a hard time removing
such toxins from the blood, and so they fail. Aspirin and other NSAID may
directly affect the kidney or liver.
Are there any signs that can help know renal disorders?
The signs of renal disorders often appear in the late stages
when the kidneys reach near to end-stage renal disease. Often, the signs are so
subtle that people go on living with them. These may include:

Ayurvedic perspective
Ayurveda is a system of medicine that is based on an
amalgamation of mind, body, and soul with nature. It is not just a treatment
rather a way to healthy living, with definite improvements in the disease and
regeneration of the cells and tissues. Ayurveda is committed to making the use
of herbs in the environment for the betterment of the health keeping in mind
the individual doshas of the person. The doshas are the life energies of the
body.
There are three primary doshas levels we have, Vata, Pitta,
and Kapha. These life forces remain influenced by our changing lifestyle, diet,
and behavioral temporal.
The main principle of renal disorder treatment inAyurveda is to adjust the imbalance in these life forces because a healthy
body is the healthy balance of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Besides, the ayurvedic
medications also help to improvise the channels of the kidneys (mutravaha
srotas). These channels aid to move urine in and out of the kidneys, called as
incoming or outgoing channels. If the incoming or outgoing channels get
obstructed, the urine may not pass, and eventually, the renal fails. Hence, it is
important to treat the faults in the channels at the earliest.
The ayurvedic treatment is a perpetual way to get rid of
renal disorders, unlike allopathic treatments such as dialysis, which halt to
suppress the signs only.
Karma Ayurveda’s approach
When treating kidneys, Doctor Puneet Dhawan tends to work on
the underlying cause of the renal disorder. Addressing the underlying causes
can help get the kidney to grow back to its normal functioning. For instance,
if hypertension is the cause of damage, it has to be bought down to quell the
progression of the disease.
